All food donations will stay in the local community, going directly to nearby food banks, pantries, shelters, and churches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"intro lead\"><strong>Here\u2019s how to participate \ud83d\udc47<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Today, May 10th, place non-perishable food items in a bag.<\/li>\n<li>Place the bag near your mailbox before your regular mail delivery.<\/li>\n<li>That\u2019s it! In the over 30 years since it began, this food drive has collected nearly two <em>billion<\/em> pounds of food.<\/p>\n<p>It is held annually on the second Saturday of May in thousands of cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam.
